NESM Tools Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the NESM Tools mobile application (“NESM Tools,” “the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information. NESM Tools is a collection of sheet-metal calculators and document-scanning tools. The app is designed to operate locally on your device.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information, usage data, analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, or payment information through the app. We do not operate a server that receives information from NESM Tools, and we do not sell or share user information.
Calculator information
Measurements and other values entered into the calculators are processed locally on your device to produce the requested calculations. The app does not transmit these values to us or store them in an online account.
Camera and scanned documents
The FabScan feature requests access to your device’s camera only when you choose to photograph a document. Photographs, edited images, and generated PDF files are processed locally and placed in the app’s temporary cache. They are not uploaded to us.
You can remove individual pages or clear a scan from within FabScan. Temporary files may also be removed by the operating system. Deleting the app removes data stored within the app’s local container. You can revoke camera access at any time in your device’s privacy settings.
Email and sharing
When you choose to email or share a PDF, NESM Tools passes the document, optional recipient address, and subject to the email or sharing service you select. The app does not send the message itself and does not retain the recipient address in an online database. Your use of a third-party email or sharing service is governed by that service’s own privacy policy.
Third-party services
NESM Tools does not include advertising networks, analytics services, or third-party tracking SDKs. System services provided by Apple, Google, your device manufacturer, your email provider, or another sharing destination may process information when you choose to use those services.
Data retention and deletion
Because we do not receive or maintain user information on our servers, we have no user account or remotely stored app data to retain or delete. Locally cached FabScan files can be removed using the app’s remove and clear controls, by clearing the app’s local data where supported, or by uninstalling the app.
Children’s privacy
NESM Tools is a professional utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Information used by the app remains subject to the security controls of your device and the services you choose for sharing. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, so users should protect their devices and avoid scanning or sharing documents they are not authorized to handle.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s features or privacy practices change. The revised policy will be posted at this location with an updated effective date.

FITTING INPUT - PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: August 10, 2026
Northeastern Sheet Metal, Inc. ("NESM," "we," or "us") provides the Fitting Input
application for iPhone and Android, used to create and review HVAC sheet-metal
fitting orders. This policy explains what the app does with information.
Fitting Input has no user accounts, no analytics or advertising software, and no
cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information.
HOW THE TWO VERSIONS DIFFER
The iPhone version works entirely offline. It has no scanning feature and makes
no network requests of its own.
The Android version is the only one that can send anything to a server, and only
through the optional page-scanning feature described below, which stays switched
off until your organization configures it.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
Everything you enter stays on the device unless you deliberately share it. This
includes:
- Job and order details: customer, purchase order, job name, order number,
taken-by, dates, shipping address, contact name and phone
- The fittings on an order: dimensions, connectors, gauge, material, lock, seam,
joint, quantities, comments and special instructions
- Saved orders, kept until you delete them in the app or uninstall it
- Fitting files you import (DAT drawing data and BMP images)
- Specification files you import (XML), and which specification a job uses
- Fitting projects, and which fittings each project shows or hides
We do not receive any of this. It is held in the app's own storage area, which
other apps cannot read.
MICROPHONE AND SPEECH RECOGNITION
The app asks for microphone access only when you start a voice feature, such as
describing a fitting aloud. Speech is converted to text by the platform's own
service - Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android - under that company's privacy
terms. NESM does not receive or retain voice recordings.
You can decline microphone access and keep using every other part of the app.
OPTIONAL PAGE SCANNING (ANDROID ONLY)
The Android app can photograph a handwritten fitting sheet and turn it into
fitting entries. This feature is off until someone enters a scanner service
address in the app's settings. Until then, no images are captured for processing
and nothing is transmitted.
When it is configured and you choose to scan:
- Page images are captured on the device using Google's ML Kit document scanner,
which processes the camera image on the device.
- The page images, together with the app's fitting catalog, are sent over HTTPS
to the scanner service address your organization configured, using the access
code entered alongside it.
- That service sends the page content to OpenAI purely to interpret the writing
and return structured fitting information.
- The interpreted result comes back to the app for you to review and edit before
anything is added to an order.
A scanned page contains whatever is written on it. Please do not scan pages
carrying information that is not needed to produce the fitting order.
Retention by the scanner service and by OpenAI is governed by how your
organization has configured and contracted for those services. If NESM operates
the scanner service for you, contact us for its current retention behaviour.
The iPhone app contains no scanning feature and makes no network requests.
SHARING AN ORDER
You can export an order as a text file or a PDF report through the standard share
sheet. Once you choose a destination - mail, messages, a file store, a printer,
another app - that recipient handles the file under its own privacy practices,
not ours. The app does not upload exports anywhere on its own.
THIRD PARTIES
- Apple: speech recognition on iPhone
- Google: speech recognition on Android, and the on-device ML Kit document
scanner
- OpenAI: interpretation of scanned pages, only when page scanning is configured
and used
- The recipient you choose when sharing an exported order or PDF
RETENTION AND DELETION
Orders and imported files stay on the device until you delete them in the app or
remove the app. Deleting the app removes the data it stored. Files you have
already shared are outside the app's control and are kept according to whatever
service or person received them.
CHILDREN
Fitting Input is a workplace tool for sheet-metal fabrication and is not directed
to children under 13.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above marks the
most recent revision.
